The question: "Where will you spend eternity?"
So why did you chose "Heaven"? Do you believe that you are good enough to get to heaven on your own merits? You may be thinking, "I am a good person", or "I haven't lied", or even "I haven't stolen anything." These things can make you a good person, but they won't get you to heaven.
If being a good person could get you to heaven, the Pharisees would be going (Matthew 5:20), but Jesus rebukes the Pharisees for their hypocrisy in Luke 11. You see, it's not about how "good" you are. They could not get to heaven on how good they are and neither can you.
You see our works are not good enough to get us to heaven, because we all have sinned, even the Pharisees who did everything right by the law cannot make it on their own merits.
Ephesians 2:8-9 "For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is a gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast."
Getting to heaven is about "FAITH"; Faith in the One that DID the WORK on our behalf.
Romans 3:23 "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."
According to God's Word, the reason no one is good enough to earn heaven on his own merits is that we have all sinned. We are sinners by birth, by nature, by practice, and by choice. Truly, we NEED the Savior!
Romans 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death..."
According to God, the penalty for being a sinner is death and death is two-fold. We will die once physically and a second time spiritually.
Even though we are not good enough to work our way to heaven, there is ONE that is GOOD ENOUGH: Jesus Christ.
Romans 5:8 "But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were sinners, Christ DIED for us."
The only payment for sin and its penalty (hell) is the precious blood of Christ. Christ (God) came to this earth in the form of a man. He died for our sins, was buried, and rose again on the third day. All you or I must do to gain heaven is simply go to the One who paid for our salvation and ask Him to save us!
Romans 10:13 "For whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved."
- Admit to God that you are a sinner. (Romans 3:23)
- Admit to God that your sin will send you to hell-this is why you NEED the Savior. (Romans 6:23)
- Believe that Christ died (paid) for your sins. (Romans 5:8)
- Ask Christ to save you and take you to heaven. (Romans 10:13)
Simply take God at His Word and claim His promise for your salvation. Bow your head right now and sincerely ask Jesus Christ to forgive you of your sins and save your soul.
